I used a MERRIAM-WEBSTER pocket dictionary for most of this.

Viscount-A member of the British peerage ranking below an Earl and above a Baron.

Mistress-Lover not a wife.

Eton-The school that William attended.

Colony-A body of people living in a new territory.

Commission-A warrant granting certain powers and imposing certain duties.

Lieutenant-A commissioned officer in the navy ranking next below a lieutenant commander.

Regiment-To organize rigidly.
